Wildarts Enrichment Programs are offered on select days of the week during the school year. They are a great way to learn in a small group setting as classes are capped at 10-12 students. Enrichment classes offer more specialized instruction than our regularly scheduled Core program activities.
These enrichment classes are open to the entire PS 185 community, including those students not enrolled in our Core afterschool program. Signing up for an enrichment program allows your student access to the Wildarts Afterschool program for the entire Wildarts day. Wildarts families already enrolled in our Core, or Pre-K programs on the day of the enrichment can use coupon code core-rewards-40 at checkout to receive 40% off*. Take a look at our schedule below!
Please keep in mind that enrolling in an Enrichment class may limit your child's participation in Wildarts showcases, as Enrichment classes may be scheduled during rehearsals.

This enrichment class is for students in grades 3-5.
Our chess teacher Mr.James will help to continue to build your child’s basic understanding of chess. They will be introduced to new learning combinations like double attack, fork, pin, x-ray, and different kinds of strategies to finish the games. They will also be challenged with different puzzles to solve to enhance their problem-solving skills and techniques.

This enrichment is for grades PK/K
Mr. Jeremiah will introduce your child to the basic moves of the game of chess. A game of strategy, logic, and intuition, learning chess promotes patience and decisiveness. They will learn how to move the pieces, how to check & checkmate, stalemate, castling, and promotion. They will also be challenged with different puzzles to solve to enhance their problem-solving skills and techniques.

In our brand new Concinando en Español Enrichment, your child will be introduced to the fundamental principles of Spanish, basic vocabulary, sounds, and phonics! Each child will be able to walk away with a tasty treat to take home along with some new words to share with you!

This enrichment is for grades 1/2
In Chess Challengers, Mr. Jeremiah will expand upon the lesson learned in Chess Beginners. Students will learn more opening and mid-game strategies, expanding on techniques of strategy, logic, and intuition. Students will also be challenged in matches with students of similar skill-level and experience.
Students will be selected by Mr. Jeremiah for Chess Challengers based on a skill assessment. Families new to Wildarts Chess programs are asked to enroll in Chess Beginners until our instructor can assess your chess master's skill level.

Join Wildarts instructor Ms. Hamer on a scientific journey of discovery each Monday. These drop-in classes feature new experiments and projects each week. Growing crystals to make rock-candy, building our own bottle rockets to understand propulsion, and dissecting owl pellets are just some examples of the fun projects we'll do while following the scientific method.
